James E. Walters, 93, of Middletown, KY, passed away December 31, 2012. He was born to Mr. James W. and Myrtle Ward Walters on September 8,1919. He served in the United States Army Air Corp. where he was stationed in England during WWII. James was a retired educator of JCPS and band director of Bell and Shelby Counties.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Harkness Walters and siblings, Charlotte Ruth Fowler and Bill Walters. His survivors include his children, James R. Walters (Jane) of Middletown, KY, Sherry Ferguson (Maner) of Lexington, KY and Trudy and the late Clayton Daniels of Street, MD; grandchildren, Bryan, Jennifer, Gene, Brad, Winnifer, Elizabeth, Kymbra, Susie and Robert Bryan and 17 great-grandchildren.

In 2009 with my mother sick and in the hospital, I visited Jiggs Walters. We compared notes about Balkan. I sent some pictures to Middletown's closest WalMart photo department and he was happy to get. Later I visited Balkan and stopped by to give him some Balkan artifacts. They were small but he seemed to enjoy.
I am sorry to see Jiggs pass. He was special.
This is my small tribute to Jiggs.
